Rain or Shine and Magnolia try to solidify their respective bids for a quarterfinal bonus in front of the hardworking overseas Filipino workers when the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup goes to Bahrain Monday, Dec. 15.
Coming off a 90-84 win over the Converge FiberXers (6-3), the Elasto Painters (7-2) seek to claim the solo lead in their 11:55 p.m. (Philippine time) showdown against the Hotshots (6-3), who are as eager to earn the quarters incentive.
The game serves as Rain or Shine's first assignment at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium as it is also set to tackle Barangay Ginebra (5-4) Wednesday, Dec. 17.
The Elasto Painters, who have already locked their quarterfinal spot, want to make it extra special by finishing the eliminations as the No. 1 seed.
Trailing them are fellow playoff-bound teams San Miguel (7-2), Magnolia, Converge, TNT (6-3), and NLEX (6-4).
Meralco (5-4), Ginebra (5-4), and Titan Ultra (3-6), meanwhile, fight for the remaining seats.
The Bolts and the FiberXers figure in a crucial game, while the Giant Risers try to remain in the playoff hunt against the Phoenix Fuel Masters (3-7), with both games set Wednesday.
Leading the Painters’ assault are Leonard Santillan, Gian Mamuyac, Andrei Caracut, Michael Malonzo, Adrian Nocum, and Caelan Tiongson as they go for their third consecutive triumph.
A win for the Elasto Painters will pull them ahead of the Beermen to sit alone at the top.
Meanwhile, Magnolia, which is fresh off a 98-82 domination of NLEX, leans on Zavier Lucero, Rome dela Rosa, Mark Barroca, Chris Koon, Ian Sangalang, Javi Gomez de Liano and James Laput.
