CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 will deploy 2,392 policemen to secure the traditional “Simbang Gabi” or dawn Mass and the Yuletide season in the Caraga region.
PRO-13 Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said they are now on heightened alert status as part of the general security measures for the holiday season.
“We are already on heightened alert and we will be deploying our personnel in churches, transport hubs, sea and airports, and other areas where people usually converge especially during this time of the year,” Ometer said.
She also said that different provincial and city police offices as well as municipal police stations have set up police assistance desks in public places and some shopping malls.
“Aside from that, as part of our commitment, we will be detailing police personnel in all stations of the different bus terminals, sea, and airports,” she said.
Ometer said PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Magistrado IV has ordered all regional, provincial, and city mobile commanders, as well as provincial and city directors, to be on their posts and ready to act any untoward incidents.
“We are happy to continue serving our constituents even in times like this and that is our commitment to serve and protect,” Ometer said.
Ometer said while they have not received any threat, they will not lower their guard and vowed to continue intensifying police presence and intelligence-monitoring in coordination with the
4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, other law enforcement agencies, and the intelligence community.
