Thousands of Manileños were inoculated with the anti-flu vaccines on Friday, Dec. 12, after the Manila city government received a donation of about 14,000 doses from a private donor, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said.
Domagoso said dozens of senior citizens and frontliners were vaccinated for free with the Vaxigrip Tetra flu shots donated by Distriphil at the City Hall.
About 1,000 vaccines were also administered to students and employees of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila that day, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Domagoso explained that the anti-flu vaccination drive is timely, as more people are expected to contract the flu virus during the holiday season.
He added the free Vaxigrip Tetra flu vaccines are available at the city's health centers and hospitals while supplies last.
