The operation was conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at a subdivision in Barangay Bulac, following a complaint of estafa and falsification of documents.
Police said the case began after a 19-year-old woman reported that she purchased a vehicle from the suspects for P190,000.
The victim later discovered that the vehicle documents were fake after having them examined by experts. She then sought assistance from authorities.
Investigators said the suspects were also involved in another vehicle transaction, prompting police to carry out the entrapment operation that led to their arrest.
Recovered from the suspects were several identification cards, a logbook, mobile phones, a caliber .45 pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and five vehicles, including two sports utility vehicles (SUVs), one multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), and a hatchback.
The suspects were taken to the Santa Maria Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, estafa, and falsification of documents.
Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the recovered vehicles and whether the suspects are linked to a larger criminal group.
