Dasmariñas Monarchs seek to complete history when they go for the jugular against the Biñan Tatak Gel Arellano U Lady Chiefs in Game 2 of the 2025 Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) best-of-three finals on Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite.
Game time is at 6 p.m. with the Monarchs, backed by the mighty National U Lady Bulldogs, shooting for a sweet 16-0 season perfection as an extension of their dynasty after reigning supreme in the UAAP and the Shakey's Super League.
Prior to that, dethroned champion Quezon Tangerines and the Negros ICC Blue Hawks dispute the bronze madal at 4 p.m.
But all eyes are on the Monarchs, who are looking to replicate their easy 25-21, 25-20, 25-15 win in Game 1 for their 15th straight win in as many games after sweeping the two-round elims and the semifinals of the MPVA founded by also MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao. Game 3, if necessary, is still on Dasma's turf at the still-to-be-determined playdate.
Tasked to fulfill the goal for Dasma is team captain Vange Alinsug, inheriting a decorated program left by the multi-titled duo of Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen.
A three-time UAAP and four-peat SSL champion, the NU-backed Monarchs are the only new squad in the eight-team MPVA in what was supposedly a rebuilding era after the graduation of their core before proving their stature as still the country's best volleyball program with an undefeated campaign so far.
Incoming UAAP rookie Sam Cantada along with rising stars Celine Marsh, Natasha Kaye Bombita, Abegail Pono, Harlyn Serneche and Minierva Maaya are expected to provide solid coverage for the Monarchs, who also found no problem in adjustments and transition under new mentor Regine Diego in lieu of Sherwin Meneses.
Dasma needed only over an hour to dispatch Biñan in Game 1 on the road and should be in for a celebrity ride once more barring any major upset, especially with a homecourt advantage in front of Cavitenos.
The Lady Chiefs, however, will not just ride into the sunset without a fight after proving that by dethroning the Tangerines, supported by the NCAA four-peat champions College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers, in the thrilling three-game semifinals of the MPVA backed by Mikasa, Asics, Spurway Enterprise, Gerflor, Smart Communications and XIV Apparel.
Led by Laika Tudlasan and Crisanta Servidad, Biñan completed a fitting vengeance on Quezon after absorbing a sweep in last year's finals of the upstart regional volleyball league organized by the Volleyball Masters of the Philippines.
