BANGKOK – Debuting 18-year-old taekwondo jin Tachiana Mangin and gymnast John Ivan Cruz clinched two more gold medals for Team Philippines on Friday, Dec. 12 here.
Mangin defeated hometown bet Seeken Kamonchanok in the women’s -49 kilogram final to bag the country’s seventh gold, while Cruz shared the top honor with Malaysian Muhammad Sharul Aimy in the men’s artistic gymnastics vault apparatus for the eighth.
Cruz registered an average of 13.833 points after a 14.167 performance on the first vault followed by a 13.499 in the second showing at the Thammasat University Rangsit Campus.
Mangin, meanwhile, defeated Djaniguian Phonnapha in the first round before taking down Putri Winda Dwi in the semifinals.
