San Miguel seeks a share of the lead, while NLEX and TNT try to move closer to the twice-to-beat incentive in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Saturday, Dec. 13.
Recharged from their week-long break, the Beermen, holding a 6-2 card at second spot, go seven in a row against the struggling Blackwater Bossing (1-8) in their 7:30 p.m. collision.
The Road Warriors (6-3), minus Robert Bolick, who answered the Gilas Pilipinas callup, and the Tropang 5G open the twin-bill at 5:15 p.m., with the victor solidifying their bid of securing a quarterfinal bonus.
Riding a six-game winning streak with a 110-95 triumph over TNT behind CJ Perez’s scoring explosion, San Miguel has no intention of slowing down after overcoming a dismal 0-2 start in the early part of the conference.
Perez, who dropped a 33-point bomb in less than 23 minutes of play in their last contest, takes charge anew as the Beermen try to chase solo leader Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (7-2).
June Mar Fajardo is also primed to deliver the much-needed boost alongside Don Trollano, Jericho Cruz, Jeron Teng, and Rodney Brondial for San Miguel.
The Bossing side, which recently sustained its eighth straight defeat that ended its playoff bid, is looking for other offensive options in the absence of main gunners Dalph Panopio and Abu Tratter.
With Panopio and Tratter diving into Gilas duties to join NLEX star Bolick in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, Sedrick Barefield, Troy Malilin, and Christian David are expected to step up for Blackwater.
Meanwhile, NLEX eyes a bounce back victory that will break the three-way tie with Magnolia and Converge at the No. 3 spot or share the same record with San Miguel at No. 2 if the Beermen bow to the Bossing.
Coming from a 98-82 loss to the Hotshots last weekend, Jayvee Mocon, Kevin Alas, Jonnel Policarpio, and rookie Xyrus Torres show the way for the Red Warriors.
Meanwhile, the Tropang 5G have Jordan Heading, Calvin Oftana, Rey Nambatac, Kevin Ferrer, Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, and Henry Galinato Jr. to lead the attack.
