DAVAO CITY — Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte refuted circulating online claims that he has been on a so-called “world tour,” dismissing the allegations as misinformation intended to question his credibility.
In a statement on Thursday, Dec. 11, Duterte said the accusations were fabricated by individuals who “create stories about others” when they lack credibility of their own.
The Davao City lawmaker emphasized that all of his official trips were covered by proper travel clearances issued by the House of Representatives.
He explained that it is a standard government practice for travel authorities to include all possible stopovers or transit countries.
Any subsequent changes in routes or flights, he added, do not invalidate the approved documents.
Duterte cited his previous visits to his father in the Netherlands as examples, noting that these trips similarly followed standard procedures.
“This is not luxury, not a gimmick — it is simply compliance,” he said.
The lawmaker asserted that critics prefer “drama over facts,” contrasting this with what he described as his quiet, straightforward approach to work.
“Dabawenyos know how I perform — silent, clear, and without theatrics,” Duterte said. “While others keep looking for relevance, I am working.”
He categorically denied going on any world tour, saying he has focused solely on his responsibilities, family obligations, and public service.
Duterte urged his constituents not to be swayed by political noise.
“Do not be deceived by our opponents… They are already corny because they cannot defend themselves from issues on flood control and DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) corruption."
