The local government treats teachers to a full day of rest and entertainment through complimentary movie screenings in celebration of Marikina Teachers’ Day. They may avail themselves of free movie tickets and snacks at SM Marikina.
Teodoro acknowledged the sacrifices teachers make to shape and guide the youth, who act as their second parents in nurturing young minds and instilling values.
“With everything our teachers sacrifice and the hard work they pour into shaping our youth, this is simply our small way of expressing our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all dedicated Marikina teachers, especially this Christmas,” she said.
“Beyond teaching lessons, our teachers serve as second parents who patiently nurture young minds and help mold the values that guide our children as they grow,” she added.
The mayor underscored that the special holiday serves as a recognition of the invaluable role teachers play in shaping learners and strengthening communities.
“Our teachers are in their classrooms every day, year-round, carrying the great responsibility of nurturing our youth and helping shape our nation’s future,” she said.
“Today, we honor their earnest efforts and commitment to education by giving them the opportunity to rest, recharge, and rekindle bonds with their families, friends, and loved ones. Their daily sacrifices and unwavering dedication deserve our deepest gratitude, and we hope this simple gesture reminds them of how much they mean to Marikina,” she continued.
Marikina Teachers’ Day is celebrated every second Friday of December, in accordance with Marikina City Ordinance No. 31, Series of 2010.
