Holiday relief as Meralco announces lower power rates in December

Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has announced a reduction in its overall electricity rates this month. This December, power rates are down by P0.3557 per kWh due to lower transmission and generation charges, bringing the overall rate for a typical household to P13.1145 per kWh.

“Residential customers with a typical consumption of 200 kWh will benefit from a reduction of around P71 in their total electricity bill this month,” Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.

“With the holiday season drawing near, we hope this adjustment provides welcome relief to our customers.”
