Police arrested a man tagged as the No. 3 most wanted person for statutory rape in Taguig City on Dec. 11.
Taguig police said the suspect, alias Bernie, 52, a resident of Barangay Ibayo Tipas, Taguig, was apprehended at about 2 p.m. by virtue of warrants of arrest for sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness.
The warrants were issued on Dec. 1 by Presiding Judge Byron San Pedro of the Taguig Family Court Branch 15, with recommended bails amounting to P108,000 and P200,000 or a total of P308,000.
The suspect was brought to the Taguig City Health Office for physical and medical examination.
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, Southern Police District director, said, “Crimes committed against minors are among the gravest offenses, and we will not allow perpetrators to evade accountability. I commend the persistent efforts of our Taguig operatives for bringing this suspect to justice. The SPD will continue to strengthen its operations to safeguard every child and every community under our jurisdiction.”
