Zaldy Co's passport cancelled—Marcos

Former lawmaker Zaldy Co's passport has been cancelled, President Marcos bared.
In a video report on Wednesday, Dec. 10, Marcos said the passport of Co has been cancelled, preventing him from further hiding over allegations of corruption in connection to the flood control anomalies.
"Maibabalita ko po sa inyo na ang passport po ni Zaldy Co ay kanselado na (I am reporting to you that the passport of Zaldy Co is now cancelled)," Marcos said in an almost two-minute video.
With the development, Marcos instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to ensure that Co will no longer be able to hide in other countries.
"Kaya ininstructionan ko na ang Department of Foreign Affairs, pati ang PNP, na makipag-ugnayan sa ating mga embassies sa iba't ibang bansa para tiyakin na hindi maaaring magtago itong ating hinahabol na magtago doon sa kanilang bansa (So, I gave instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs, including the PNP, to coordinate with our embassies in other countries to ensure that the one we are going after can no longer hide in their countries)," Marcos said.
"At kung sakali man ay siya ay pupunta roon, ay i-rereport sa atin para naman maibalik natin siya dito sa Pilipinas (And if he ever goes there, they can report it to us so that we can finally bring him back here in the Philippines)," Marcos added.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, DFA Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro disclosed that the cancellation of Co's passport was processed by the department at 5 p.m. Wednesday, following a resolution issued by the Sandiganbayan. 
"According to the resolution of the Sandiganbayan today, the 10th of December 2025, and the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Department of Foreign Affairs has cancelled the passport of former Ako Bikol Partylist Representative Elizaldy Salcedo Co. This cancellation process was done by the Department today, the 10th of December 2025, at 5:00 PM this afternoon," Lazaro said in a brief press conference.
Co was suspected to be in Portugal prior to the cancellation of his passport.
The former congressman was among the 16 people charged in connection with the anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.
The government has since urged overseas Filipinos to take a photo of him in case they see him and report it to Filipino authorities.

'Process is moving smoothly'

With the cancellation of Co's passport and with Sarah Discaya surrenderin to the National Bureau of Investigation, pending her warrant of arrest, Marcos said the investigation on the massive flood control anomalies is moving smoothly.
"Kaugnay naman kay Sara Discaya, sumuko naman siya kahapon sa NBI at nasa kustodiya na siya ng NBI at inaantay ang pormal ng paglabas ng kanyang warrant of arrest (Regarding Sara Discaya, she surrendered yesterday to the NBI and is now in their custody while awaiting the formal issuance of her warrant of arrest)," Marcos said.
"Kaya’t na nakikita po natin, maganda naman ng takbo ng proseso at yung ating mga hinihinalaang kasama dito sa ganitong klaseng sindikato ay haharap sa hustisya (As we can see, the process is moving smoothly, and those we suspect to be involved in this kind of syndicate will face justice)," Marcos added.
The President said the public can expect that the investigation will continue, and the government will keep filing cases to ensure that "those guilty of this kind of scandal will face the law, and that the stolen money will be returned to the public."
