Veteran journalist and Manila Bulletin and Tempo columnist Nestor DG Cuartero appointed MTRCB board member
Veteran journalist and Manila Bulletin and Tempo columnist Nestor DG Cuartero has been appointed as a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), effective immediately, Malacanang announced on Dec. 2.

Mr. Cuartero was a long-time editor at the Bulletin Publishing Corporation, where he worked for 36 straight years.
Cuartero has a B.A. Journalism degree from the University of Santo Tomas, university lecturer, and weekend farmer. He has won several awards in journalism and has written three books on his own: At Large, At Leisure, PH Movie Confidential, and Easy Listening, and several others in tandem with other writers. He takes pride in being named a Nick Joaquin Literary Awards SALUTE awardee by the Philippines Graphic three times in a row, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Nestor started his journalism career in UST as an editor of the student newspaper, The Varsitarian, in the 1970s. Following a stint in broadcast media at KBS Public Affairs, he shifted to print with Mr. & Ms. Magazine. He was a long-time editor, 36 years, at the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, for which he won several journalism awards. He remains a columnist at Manila Bulletin and Tempo following his retirement as editor in 2018.
Among these awards are: Grand Prize in Primer Premio de Periodismo given by Instituto Cervantes in 2000; First Prize in the 2007 LaSallian Scholarum Awards for coverage of youth and education issues in media; 2010 Binhi Awards’ Environment Journalist of the Year from the Philippine Agricultural Journalists (PAJ).
For over 20 years, Nestor taught Journalism courses at UST’s Faculty of Arts and Letters and served as the program's Coordinator at some point.
