CEBU CITY – For the second time this year, a senior citizen was arrested for allegedly peddling illegal drugs.
The 62-year-old suspect, known only as Kimpang, was arrested on Tuesday night, Dec. 9, by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) in Barangay Tisa here.
Seized from the suspect were three packs of suspected shabu weighing 55 grams with an estimated average market value of P374,000.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, said the suspect was monitored for a month before he was finally cornered.
Alcantara said that based on monitoring, the suspect was capable of 30 to 50 grams of shabu a week.
She added that Kimpang was arrested last June for the same offense.
The suspect was released from jail after posting bail.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect, the PDEA-7 said.
