The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Dec. 10, said no low-pressure area (LPA) is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and none is expected to develop in the next two days, even as several weather systems continue to bring rains over Luzon and other parts of the country.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia said the bureau is not monitoring any developing cyclone or LPA.
“Sa kasalukuyan ay wala po tayong LPA na mino-monitor sa loob ng ating area of responsibility; at least in the next two days, wala po tayong inaasahan (At the moment, we are not monitoring any low-pressure area inside PAR; at least in the next two days, we are not expecting any),” she said.
Despite the absence of a weather disturbance, Galicia said rains will persist due to the shear line affecting portions of Central and Northern Luzon.
“Sa kasalukuyan ay patuloy na nagpapaulan ang shear line sa silangang bahagi ng Central Luzon (The shear line continues to bring rains over the eastern part of Central Luzon).”
“At inaasahan po natin sa mga susunod na oras ay magdudulot ito ng mga pag-ulan sa ilang bahagi pa ng hilagang Luzon (We expect it to bring rains over more areas in northern Luzon in the next few hours),” she said.
The state weather bureau said the northeast monsoon, or amihan, is also enhancing cloudy skies, light rains, and cooler temperatures across large parts of northern Luzon.
“At iyong amihan o northeast monsoon ay nagdudulot din ng mga maulap na papawirin at pag-ulan, maging ng malamig na panahon lalong-lalo na sa gabi at madaling-araw sa malaking bahagi ng hilagang Luzon (The northeast monsoon is bringing cloudy skies, rains, and colder weather especially at night and early morning over much of northern Luzon),” said Galicia.
According to the weather specialist, localized thunderstorms may likewise trigger rains elsewhere in the country.
“Habang sa natitirang bahagi ng bansa, mga localized thunderstorm naman ang puwedeng magdulot ng mga pag-ulan (In the rest of the country, localized thunderstorms may bring rains),” she added.
