Over 16,000 scholars of the Taguig City government’s Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Scholarship received their allowances.
The city government finished distributing the allowances in eight days to 3,525 new scholars at the Taguig City University Auditorium and 12,637 renewing scholars at the Taguig Scholarship Office.
The first batch of scholars for the first semester of the school year got allowances ranging from P7,500 to P25,000, depending on their scholarship type and academic performance.
Mayor Lani Cayetano told the students, “Approach student life with passion, dedication, and responsibility. Choose the people that you will allow in your lives because they will be your greatest influencers… Focus on what’s really important. Lumayo kayo sa distractions, vices especially.”
One of the scholars is Marion Josh De Rama, a first-year BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology student from the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and a resident of Barangay New Lower Bicutan,
“Sobrang halaga po ng ganitong mga programa kasi mahal na po ‘yung mga bayarin sa panahon ngayon. Kaya malaking tulong ito para mabawasan ‘yung mga gastusin. Maraming salamat po kay Mayor Lani Cayetano at sa taxpayers ng Taguig para sa scholarship program na ito! (“These kinds of programs are very valuable because fees are already expensive these days. So this is a great help to reduce expenses. Thank you very much to Mayor Lani Cayetano and the taxpayers of Taguig for this scholarship program!),” he said.
As of December this year, the Taguig Scholarship Program has supported around 120,000 scholars and has produced more than 5,400 licensed professionals, including 1,700 engineers.
