GPS tracker helps cops arrest motorcycle thieves in Rizal
Three motorcycle thieves were arrested by the police with the help of a Global Positioning System (GPS) tracker installed in the stolen motorcycle in Cainta, Rizal last Dec. 8, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said.
Based on the initial investigation, the suspects, identified as Maki, 18; Christ, 18; and Bam, 19, stole the motorcycle and cellphone of the 31-year-old mototaxi victim at gunpoint along Monte Vista Subdivision in Barangay Sto. Niño.
The victim reported the incident to the Cainta Municipal Police Station, wherein a hot-pursuit operation was quickly launched with the help of the stolen vehicle's GPS tracker.
The police tracked down and arrested the suspects along C6 in Taguig City.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen motorcycle and cellphone, as well as a 9mm pistol loaded with live ammunition.
The suspects were brought to the Cainta Municipal Police Station and are now facing charges for violating R.A. 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) and R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
