LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has provided support to the family of two sisters who were murdered in Naga City earlier this week.
DSWD-Bicol Director Norman Laurio said the victims were a 27-year-old woman and her 25-year-old sister, one of who was a former monitored child under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Barangay Conception Pequeña, Naga City, Camarines Sur.
A DSWD team in Bicol visited the victims' family home in San Fernando, Camarines Sur, providing immediate psychosocial and material assistance.
The agency also provided technical assistance to facilitate the release of funeral aid, which will help alleviate the financial burden and burial costs resulting from this tragic loss.
“The entire agency and the 4Ps community deeply mourn with our 4Ps household member from San Fernando following the loss of their children, one of whom was our former monitored child. We stand in solidarity with the public in their call for justice. The DSWD Bicol will continue to ensure that the family receives the necessary care and support during this painful situation,” Laurio said in a statement. (PNA)
