'An Enchanted Venetian Christmas': McKinley Hill Grand Christmas Parade returns to dazzle the season
The holiday season sparkled with wonder at McKinley Hill as the Grand Christmas Parade returned on Dec. 6, delighting over thousands of spectators with a celebration of artistry, imagination, and community. This year’s theme, “An Enchanted Venetian Christmas: A Parade of Wonder and Light,” brought together the elegance of Venice, the mysteries of forests and seas, and a meaningful message of sustainability in one unforgettable experience.
Leading the ceremonial opening was Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, together with (from left) general manager of Mckinley Hill Beda Cabanos, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls cluster general manager Tyrone Tan, head of Megaworld Estate Management Earl Caagbay, Taguig Cong. Jorge Bocobo, and Taguig Councilor Iony De-Lera Bes.
Inspired by the grandeur of international holiday parades, the event transformed the 3.5-kilometer stretch from Le Grand Avenue to Upper McKinley Road into a moving spectacle of light and sound. Twelve meticulously crafted floats glided along pathways, while five towering helium balloons floated like guardians, bringing fantasy to life in every corner. Sixty iconic mascots and over 600 performers brought to life four fantastical worlds—Whispering Woods, The Depths of the Sea, The Enchanting Forest, and The Carnival of Rebirth—each celebrating the interplay of nature, imagination, and holiday cheer.
More than a visual feast, the parade carried a thoughtful message. Floats like Aqua Noël and Under the Sea reminded spectators of the fragility and beauty of the natural world, inspiring reflection on environmental stewardship while spreading the joy of the season.
The day began with a show-stopping performance by Repertory Philippines, setting a festive tone for the afternoon. Parade-goers were treated to star-studded appearances from the Metro Manila Film Festival entries, including Carla Abellana, Sassa Gurl, and Althea Ablan of "Shake, Rattle, and Roll"; and Zaijan Jaranilla, Krystel Go, and Earl Amaba of "I’m Perfect," all of whom brought extra excitement and energy to the celebration. Exciting performances from partner universities, including the UPIS Pep Squad and Letran Cheering Squad, added energy and flair to the parade route.
Signature attractions stole the show: the McKinley Hill Parol, a towering rendition of the Filipino Christmas lantern, captured hearts and cameras alike, while playful helium balloons—“Chance the Aspin” and “Girl with Maracas”—soared above the crowd, delighting young and old. The grand finale featured an electrifying performance by Korean girl group Bur Vey, leaving the audience cheering and immersed in the festive atmosphere.
For many, the Grand Christmas Parade at McKinley Hill has become more than just a holiday spectacle—it is a cherished tradition. Families, friends, and communities gather along the parade route, sharing moments of wonder and creating lasting memories in a setting that combines European-inspired canals and piazzas with the warmth of Filipino holiday spirit.
The celebration continues beyond parade day. Visitors can enjoy 3D projection mapping shows at the Venice Piazza and spectacular fireworks every Saturday of December, keeping the magic alive throughout the season.
With its grand design, captivating performances, and thoughtful storytelling, the McKinley Hill Grand Christmas Parade reminds us why Christmas in the Philippines is truly special: a season of imagination, shared wonder, and light.
