Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Nueva Ecija 1st district Rep. Mikaela Angela "Mika" Suansing, Deputy Speaker Ilocos Sur Rep. Kristen Singson-Meehan, and Minority Leader 4Ps Party-list Rep. Marcelino "Nonoy" Libanan will lead the 12-person House contingent to the bicam hearings on the proposed 2026 national budget.
The bicam hearings refer to the Bicameral Conference Committee proceedings, where contingents from the House of Representatives and Senate convene to harmonize the differing provisions of their respective versions of any given measure.
In this case, it's 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) worth P6.793 trillion, the biggest in the country’s history.
Rounding up the House bicam team were Bataan 2nd district Rep. Albert Garcia, Palawan 2nd district Rep. Jose Alvarez, Cagayan de Oro 2nd district Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, Camiguin lone district Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, Parañaque City 2nd district Rep. Brian Yamsuan, Davao de Oro 1st district Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora, Surigao del Sur 1st district Rep. Romeo Momo Sr., LPGMA Party-list Rep. Allan Ty, and Negros Oriental 3rd district Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez.
The 12 solons were nominated to the bicam team during plenary session Wednesday night, Dec. 10.
The bicam hearings on the 2026 outlay will be launched on Friday, Dec. 12. It will be the first bicam hearings on the national budget to be livestreamed.
Suansing had earleir reiterated that the House had always favored opening the bicam to the public.
This year’s bicam hearings will take place amid allegations of massive corruption in government stemming from project insertions in the GAB. These projects have reportedly led to millions, if not billions worth of kickbacks to lawmakers.
