LEGAZPI CITY – Police arrested a 71-year-old suspect in a shooting incident in Bacacay, Albay that injured two female victims on Sunday.
In a report, PRO-5 acting director Police Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda identified the suspect as alias "Pilay," a resident of Bacacay and was arrested without resistance in a mountainous area of Barangay Pigcobohan.
Initial investigation showed that an ongoing land dispute between the suspect and the victims escalated into a heated altercation.
Recovered from the suspect was a pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition and one empty magazine, believed to be the firearm used in the shooting.
One of the victims sustained a bullet wound in the left thigh, while the other was shot in the right thigh. Both remain under medical care and are in stable condition.
Miranda lauded the rapid response of Bacacay police, emphasizing that the arrest underscores the effectiveness of the region’s intensified police operations.
“The quick apprehension of the suspect is a testament to the unwavering commitment and strong operational capability of our police personnel. Their swift, coordinated, and intelligence-driven actions prevented further danger and delivered immediate justice to the victims,” he said. (PNA)
