“I feel incredibly proud and deeply humbled,” Hizon shared, noting that while he has previously won three international awards as Best News Anchor, this was his first recognition as a talk show host. “Standing on that stage in Jakarta, Indonesia, representing the Philippines, reminded me why I do what I do - to deliver journalism that is accurate, balanced, and truthful.
“Winning my very first Best Talk Show Host recognition was more than just a personal milestone—it is really a tribute to the hardworking Beyond the Exchange team, the trust of ABS-CBN, the guests and the audiences who welcome us into their homes,” he said. “It motivates me to keep elevating Filipino journalism on the global stage.”
The victory is especially meaningful as it comes a year after joining the ABS-CBN News Channel, where Beyond the Exchange has quickly become an award-winning program.
In also accepting the award, Rico said that “we will continue our commitment to serve the public with information and analysis that our viewers can use and can trust.”
Rico also stressed that what excites him most is not the trophies, but what they represent: validation of the show’s mission to elevate discourse, deepen understanding, and spotlight the events shaping everyday lives. “These awards motivate us to keep delivering journalism that informs, empowers, and uplifts. My journey with my Kapamilya has been extraordinary—and we’re just getting started.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Hizon plans to expand the show’s reach and relevance. We’ll continue engaging prominent leaders across various sectors from politics to business, sports, and entertainment, while also giving emerging voices a platform. Expect deeper analysis and insights. If our first year is any indication, the journey has only just begun.
Rico has been a broadcast journalist for almost 40 years, having been a news anchor with GMA News, CNBC Asia in Hong Kong, BBC World News in Singapore and London, CNN Philippines, and now with the ABS-CBN News Channel. (Robert Requintina)
