Starting next school year, public school students from kindergarten to Grade 6 in Parañaque will receive free school uniforms and shoes, following the approval of City Ordinance No. 29, Series of 2025.

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Friday, Dec. 6, said the ordinance, authored by Councilor Pablo “Pao” Olivarez II and approved on Nov. 13, aims to ease families’ financial burdens and ensure that no child is left behind in pursuing quality education.

Olivarez said the program is expected to benefit thousands of young students enrolled in public schools once it takes effect next school year.

He added that providing free uniforms and shoes will help parents reduce back-to-school expenses while also promoting equality among students in the classroom.

Councilor Olivarez said the initiative reflects the city’s commitment to supporting the welfare of its youth and ensuring that every child is allowed to learn with confidence and dignity.

Under the ordinance, beneficiaries must be bona fide residents of Parañaque, and parents or guardians are required to present valid government-issued or voter’s IDs.

The city government is currently preparing the logistics and procurement process to ensure the timely distribution of the uniforms and shoes before the opening of classes.
