TACLOBAN CITY — The government is now selling P20 rice under the Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas program in Jiabong, Samar.
Samar Gov. Sharee Ann Tan said the program aims to put quality rice within reach for all families, particularly those struggling with rising prices of basic goods.
She noted that affordable rice is more than just sustenance for many. It symbolizes stability, comfort, and peace of mind.
Tan emphasized that the initiative will provide immediate relief to families stretching their budgets amid inflation.
She added that it also strengthens local supply stability by bringing together farmers, local government units, and partner agencies to improve coordination and ensure steady availability of the P20 rice.
The governor expressed hope that the project will not only address current needs but also build a more secure and sustainable food system for the future.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting local farmers, ensuring fair access to essential goods, and creating a community where no family worries about their next meal.
