CEBU CITY – A senior citizen was arrested and more than P1-million worth of shabu was seized in two separate anti-illegal drug operations in the City of Naga, Cebu province on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) served two search warrants in just a span of minutes that led to the arrest and confiscation of illegal drugs.
Seized from the house of a certain Jojo, 60, at 7:32 a.m. were seven packs of suspected shabu weighing around 100.2 grams with an estimated market value of P681,360, four strips of tin foil with residue of suspected shabu, one cellular phone, and various drug paraphernalia.
About 10 minutes earlier, PDEA-7 operatives and police served a search warrant in a house owned by a certain Makmak in Purok Centro 2, Barangay Langtad.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7 said Makmak was able to escape.
Recovered from Makmak’s house were three packs of suspected shabu weighing around 80 grams worth P544,000.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects.
Alcantara said possession of more than 50 grams of shabu carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a penalty of up to P10 million.
