The Anti-Cybercrime Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP-ACG) has filed 188 cases in November this year as part of the intensified legal offensives against cybercriminals.
PNP-ACG director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said 120 of the cases were filed via regular filing while 68 others through inquest proceedings.
He said a total of 106 individuals were arrested through entrapment operations, service of warrants against wanted persons, and one rescue operation.
“These efforts are part of the group's intensified operations to strengthen public safety in the digital space,” said Asueta.
He said the agency also implemented 97 cyber warrants that include 89 warrants to disclose computer data, one warrant to examine computer data, and seven warrants to search, seize, and examine computer data.
Based on the ACG data, a total of 2,365 cyber patrolling activities and 68 digital forensic examinations were conducted which resulted in the conviction of 22 individuals and rescue of 18 victims.
Acting national police chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. earlier vowed to strengthen police capability against cyber criminals.
Recently, he ordered an intensified campaign against online scams, including those in the online selling platform, for the Holiday season.
