CEBU CITY – A 33-year-old woman was arrested after she was caught possessing a grenade and a firearm on Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, in Mandaue City.
Police said Elaine Grace Buenaventura, a resident of Lapu-Lapu City, was about to enter a known foam and furniture store in Barangay Tipolo when security guards stopped her for routine inspection.
Security personnel Rodel Catane and Stanley Barrios Jr. were shocked to see a grenade and a .45 caliber pistol in the woman’s sling bag.
The .45 caliber pistol was loaded with seven bullets, police said.
The woman was apprehended and turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas.
Investigation is ongoing to determine why she was carrying deadly weapons when she entered the store.
Police said she will be charged for violating Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
