Quarterfinals-bound Rain or Shine and Converge figure in a marquee duel that is seen to play a huge factor to their respective bid for playoff bonus in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Montalban on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Both sitting atop the standings with the same 6-2 records, the Elasto Painters and the FiberXers are jockeying for positions to secure a spot in the Top 4 and claim a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Tip-off of the clash is at 7:30 p.m. with a match between Magnolia and NLEX raising the curtain at 5:15 p.m.
Interestingly, the Road Warriors are also at the top spot and are aiming to keep in step with the winner of the ROS-Converge clash.
Momentum, however, is surely on the side after a morale-boosting 114-97 win over Magnolia just last Friday.
The FiberXers showed no signs of rust even after the two-week break as Juan Gomez de Liano, Alec Stockton, Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana did most of the damage against the Hotshots.
But the Elasto Painters, who have been dealing with injuries prior to the break, will be coming in fresh with guys like Leonard Santillan, Adrian Nocum, Gian Mamuyac, Caelan Tiongson and veteran Stanley Pringle expected to lead the charge.
Meanwhile, the Road Warriors are looking to pick up a much-needed win to stay in the Top 4 race especially that they are set to miss Robert Bolick in the coming days due to his Southeast Asian Games duties.
The high-scoring guard will surely be the focal point of the offense for NLEX along with young guns Xyrus Torres, Jonnel Policarpio and JB Bahio.
They, however, will be facing up against the hard-nosed defenders of the Hotshots, who are surely determined to bounce back from their loss against the FiberXers.
Zav Lucero who exploded for 31 last time out will be at the forefront of the attack with guys like Jerom Lastimosa, Javi Gomez de Liano, Paul Lee and Mark Barroca expected to provide support.
