On Nov. 26, Mamay was elected Vice President for Operations of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP) during its 29th National Convention at the Manila Hotel. He also serves as National Vice President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), further solidifying his role in national governance and policy leadership.
As a former three-term mayor of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, Mamay is credited with transforming the municipality through major infrastructure projects, peace-building initiatives, and economic development, elevating it from third-class to first-class status.
Beyond his public office, Mamay reached new heights in show business. His inspirational biopic, *MAMAY: A Journey to Greatness,* directed by Neal “Buboy” Tan, chronicles his rise from hardship to leadership. Mamay served as Assistant Director, ensuring an authentic portrayal of Maranao culture and traditions.
The film triumphed at the 73rd FAMAS Awards, winning five major honors: Best Supporting Actor (Jeric Raval), Best Production Design, Best Musical Score, Best Original Song, and Best Cinematography. Mamay received two notable accolades himself: Film Producer of the Year for Mamay Productions and the Presidential Award. Endorsed by the Department of Education and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, *MAMAY* has been screened in schools nationwide.
Its success continued with the song “Hamon,” composed by Vehnee Saturno, produced by Mamay, and performed by Gerald Santos, which won Indie Movie Theme Song of the Year at the 41st PMPC Star Awards for Movies. Mamay was also named the Outstanding Producer and Media Advocate of the Year at the same awards.
A passionate cultural advocate, Mamay serves as Executive Adviser of the Actors Guild of the Philippines, promoting greater opportunities for Mindanao-based artists. Through Mamay Productions, he produces films, concerts, and coffee table books. Upcoming projects include "OFW", "One Life to Live," and "Babae sa Salamin". The Mangyan-themed film starring Ejay Falcon marks another step in his advocacy to empower artists and tell socially relevant Filipino stories.
“With Mamay Productions, our goal is simple yet powerful: to provide opportunities for artists, uplift the local film industry, and share meaningful Filipino stories that educate, entertain, and inspire audiences both here and abroad,” Mamay shared.
Reflecting on his milestone-filled year, he added, “2025 has been an overwhelming blessing. "MAMAY was created from the heart of my journey, and seeing it receive recognition—while stepping into new national leadership roles—is something I will always be grateful for. These honors remind me that whether in governance or in film, the purpose remains the same: to inspire, uplift, and make a difference.”
As the year comes to a close, Marcos Mamay stands at the intersection of governance and storytelling, recognized by both public institutions and the creative industry. With renewed purpose, expanded platforms, and a growing national presence, he enters 2026 ready to serve with even greater vision, impact, and reach.
