A 55-year-old woman was severely beaten by three individuals who accused her of stealing money from them along Estrella corner Osmeña in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City on Thursday night, Dec. 4.
According to Barangay Bangkal medical responder Raisa Pascual, the victim sustained a head injury as well as multiple abrasions and bruises due to the beating.
The victim told the authorities that the suspects pulled her hair before bashing her head into a metal post. They subsequently hit her multiple times in the body.
Initial investigation showed the victim was accused of stealing money worth P3,000 from the suspects when they were living together in Pasay City, forcing her to leave their home and escape to Makati City.
However, the suspects tracked her in Barangay Bangkal where the assault occurred. The three quickly escaped after spotting the responding barangay officials.
Pascual said the victim refrained from being brought to the hospital and just asked for money as fare for going to Cavite.
"Ang gusto po nung patient ay manghingi ng pera para pamasahe pang-uwi sa General Trias, Cavite. Pero paglabas po ng Violence against Women and Children (VAWC) natin galing CR ay umalis na po yung pasyente (The patient asked for money to be used as fare for going to General Trias, Cavite. However, she immediately left before our VAWC officer returned from the comfort room)," Pascual explained.
The officials urged the public to report criminal activities and other incidents to the proper authorities instead of putting the law into their own hands.
