Meralco is finally unveiling the dream tandem of Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson when it takes on the Macau Black Bears in the East Asia Super League at the Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Although he admitted that it still felt weird donning the Meralco jersey – the same that he tormented in the PBA Finals in the past, Brownlee is thrilled to be finally joining the Bolts.
“I really, honestly, have high respect for all of these guys. So it feels good to finally play with them,” said Brownlee.
Not only that the naturalized Filipino will be playing for Meralco, an archrival of Ginebra where he is a resident import, he will also be paired up with Hollis-Jefferson, who he shared several finals battles in in the past two seasons.
The 37-year-old forward was named to the Bolts lineup at the start of the season but missed the first four games after dealing with pneumonia.
Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson, were no doubt, two of the best imports who have set their foot on the PBA hardcourt and they will now be reinforcing a Bolts side looking to stretch its winning run to three in the regional league.
Meralco currently holds a 2-2 record.
Of course, aside from the two, the Bolts will also have world import Ismael Romero to lord the paint while Iranian star guard Sina Vahedi is expected to run the point along with local stars Chris Newsome, CJ Cansino, Cliff Hodge, Allein Maliksi and Bong Quinto.
The Black Bears, though, are no pushovers, having tapped 7-foot-6 center Sam Deguara to help the team avenge their earlier 92-74 loss to Meralco in Cebu City.
