Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed on Friday, Dec. 5, that Cadiz has stepped down from his post after he was implicated by former lawmaker Zaldy Co in the massive flood control corruption.
"Sa ating pagkakaalam siya po ay nag-submit na ng kanyang resignation. Sa ating pagkakaalam. Bibigyan ko lang po ng update (As far as we know, he has submitted his resignation. We will just give you updates)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Friday, Dec. 5.
Castro also said she would just give updates later whether President Marcos has accepted his resignation.
The resignation of Cadiz came after he was implicated by Co for allegedly receiving kickbacks from flood control projects on behalf of the President.
When asked if the President has been made aware of the allegations against Cadiz, Castro also said that the alleged connection of Cadiz to a construction company has not yet been discussed.
"As of the moment we have not talked about that. But if there’s a need for investigation on that issue, so let the investigation be done," Castro said.
