Isuzu Heart and Smile Project holds Batch 24 Graduation

Now operating for 17 years and producing over 455 Automotive Servicing graduates through its Isuzu-TESDA Auto Mechanic Training Center, the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project celebrated the graduation of Batch 24 of their two-year Automotive Servicing Course. These 19 graduates earned a National Certificate IV (NC IV), marking their readiness to enter the automotive workforce as skilled professionals.
The Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP), Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) is a long-running educational aid initiative spearheaded by IPC, in collaboration with Isuzu Motors Limited Japan (IML), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and World Vision Philippines. Together, these partners have built a program that not only equips underprivileged youth with technical skills but also opens doors to sustainable employment and personal growth.
Empowerment through education
Since its inception in 2008, the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project provided holistic automotive education to over 455 underprivileged youths. The program is designed to support those with limited access to formal training, offering not just technical instruction but also opportunities for sustainable employment.
The curriculum blends TESDA’s standard automotive servicing training with specialized modules on Isuzu diesel technology, equipping scholars with both foundational and brand-specific skills to meet real-world industry demands.
The program’s impact is reflected in its strong employment rate of 95-percent, with 68-percent of graduates employed locally, 24-percent overseas, and three-percent self-employed. IHSP alumni have gone on to work in top global markets such as Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and the United States, contributing to the industry with skills honed through the program.
“The automotive industry in the Philippines has been steadily growing year after year, and more and more people are aspiring to build their careers in this field,” said IML Executive Vice President of the International Sales Division, Koji Nakamura during his address to the graduates. “As you begin your careers, I hope you will always keep the following three things in mind. Use the skills you have learned at this school to satisfy and serve your customers. Contribute to the growth and development of your company and of the Philippines. Never forget the gratitude you owe to your families who have supported you along the way.”
Passing the torch
As Batch 24 prepares to enter the workforce, IHSP continues its mission by welcoming Batch 28: 18 new scholars who will train until 2027. To inspire them, current students from Batches 25 to 27 conducted a Skills Demonstration, showcasing the technical expertise and professionalism they have acquired.
Several graduates were also recognized for their outstanding performance, reinforcing the program’s commitment to excellence and continuous growth.
IPC Executive Vice President, Yasuhiko Oyama, expressed pride in the graduates and reaffirmed Isuzu’s dedication to youth development. “It is a great honor to witness the legacy of the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project with the graduation of Batch 24, who will go from students to professionals who can offer their skills as key members of the Isuzu dealer network both locally and internationally. I am confident that they will be integral to the company, to our valued customers, and to society.”
