Devotees of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage will have a rare chance to touch the relic of the world’s first millennial saint, Saint Carlo Acutis, as it is scheduled to visit the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage on Dec. 5, Friday, on a very limited time only.
St. Carlo Acutis’ first class relic will be coming from Saint William's Cathedral in Laog, Ilocos Norte prior to being brought to Antipolo.
The Antipolo Cathedral announced that the pericardium relic of St. Carlo will arrive at the cathedral at 8 a.m.
A celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be held at 9 a.m. to be presided over by Antipolo Bishop, Most. Rev. Ruperto Cruz Santos.
After the mass, veneration of the relic simultaneous with the confession will be at 10 a.m. to give the chance to the public to have a closer look and a moment of prayer in front of the relic.
Another Holy Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon where the act of dedication to St. Carlo as patron saint of Social Communications Ministry and mass media will happen and will be witnessed by the churchgoers.
St. Carlo, an English born Italian, was declared saint by Pope Leo XVI on September 7. His feast day is Oct. 12.
He died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. He spent his life as a young catechist, and created a website to document Eucharistic miracles and some apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
He was beatified in 2020 and was admired worldwide by young Catholics for his devotion to the Holy Eucharist and his pioneering use of digital media to evangelize.
After leaving Antipolo, the relic will be brought to the Pius XII Catholic Center in Manila for the Catholic Social Media Summit.
The relic's pilgrimage in the country will be until Dec. 15 before it will be brought back to Italy.
