House majority leader and presidential son, Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos appeared at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Thursday, Dec. 4 and requested an executive session after he voluntarily submitted himself to the body.
Marcos arrived at the ICI headquarters in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig at around 1:30 p.m. He gave a short statement to the media wherein he clarified that he was neither "served a subpoena” nor made “a subject" to the investigation.
“I would just like to say I came here on a voluntary basis so I could help ICI in their investigation,” he said.
“I’m willing to give and tell the ICI anything that I might know over the investigation,” he added.
As for Marcos’ request for a closed-door session, his counsel said the lawmaker already submitted himself voluntarily to the commission and “would like to share as much information as candidly as possible".
“And more importantly, there may be critical information that may be elicited from his testimony which may jeopardize or compromise the investigation of the commission,” his counsel said.
Marcos and the First Family were dragged into the anomalous flood control projects by former Ako Bicol Party-list representative Zaldy Co in a video statement posted on Facebook.
The ICI found no value in such statements.
