The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has launched SAFE CARD, a new emergency protection program designed to guarantee immediate assistance for families caught in life-threatening situations, particularly those unable to pay upfront for critical medical services.
PRC said cases of ambulance refusals, delays in emergency care, and families being denied blood units due to lack of immediate payment continue to occur nationwide, putting vulnerable Filipinos at greater risk.
These scenarios, the organization stressed, underscore a long-standing reality: emergencies can strike without warning, and “every second matters.”
Under the newly launched SAFE CARD, holders are entitled to one free ambulance service, giving patients immediate access to medical assistance during emergencies without fear of being turned away due to financial constraints.
Also, humanitarian organization said members will receive one free bag of blood, a benefit PRC described as “a lifesaving gift” for families facing childbirth complications, severe injuries, or sudden medical crises.
SAFE CARD provides a P300,000 accidental death, disablement, and dismemberment benefit, as well as P300,000 coverage for unprovoked murder and assault.
It further includes a P10,000 accident-related medical reimbursement; P5,000 accident-related burial assistance; and a daily hospital allowance of P200 for up to 60 days.
PRC underscored that SAFE CARD is not only a protection tool but also a gateway to humanitarian service.
By registering, it said that cardholders automatically become members of the Philippine Red Cross, joining millions of volunteers and staff working to deliver aid before, during, and after disasters.
PRC explained that membership fees directly fuel emergency response operations, blood services, rescue teams, and other life-saving initiatives nationwide.
“SAFE CARD is more than a card, it’s peace of mind,” PRC said, noting that the program offers families the reassurance that “in life’s most urgent moments, you and your loved ones are never alone.”
PRC urged the public to take part in the initiative, saying the act of signing up does not only secure individual protection but also strengthens the country’s collective ability to respond to emergencies.
