"Mahigpit na pangangalagaan ang pagkakakilanlan ng sino mang mag-uulat. Mananatiling anonymous ang lahat ng impormasyon (The identity of anyone reporting will be strictly protected. All information will remain anonymous),” it said.
Pateros Mayor Gerald German posted, “Kailangan natin ng katarungan. Kailangan ring matigil ang karahasan! We cry #JusticeForMarkTañga (We need justice. The violence must also stop! We cry #JusticeForMarkTañga).”
According to the Taguig police, the two suspects were on board a motorcycle when they shot Tañga.
The suspects took Tañga’s belongings and his motorcycle and fled. Tañga was taken to the Taguig Pateros District Hospital but died at 10:24 p.m. due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim’s relatives told police that Tañga carried cash placed in a sling bag which was taken by the suspects. The police said possible motives could be robbery and carnapping.
The Taguig police’s Ususan Sub-station 4 and tracker teams conducted operations for the arrest of the suspects.
CCTV footage led to the identification of one of the suspects, alias Sonny, a 27-year-old man who has standing warrants of arrest for robbery, robbery with violence, violation of anti-carnapping law and murder issued by multiple courts in Taguig.
