Forthsky Padrigao could only be grateful despite the mix of ups and downs in his two meaningful seasons with University of Santo Tomas.
In his final game with the Tigers in UAAP Season 88, Padrigao only spoke of good words after they missed the Final Four with a painful 82-81 loss to the UP Fighting Maroons Wednesday night, Dec. 4.
He also remembered his time at Ateneo and was equally thankful for the opportunities he had received.
“I'm really grateful for the experience. I'm grateful that I've been to Ateneo and UST,” said Padrigao. "Wins and losses, ‘yong learning. Just really absorbing everything and trying to be present. Thankful for everything."
Despite the setback, the 23-year-old playmaker remained optimistic on the future of the UST basketball team.
“Well, we're not happy with the result but personally I'm really happy about our team kasi ‘yong improvement ng mga bata from last season to this season,” Padrigao continued.
“It's a big leap for them and sa UST and I think hopefully it's something they can get excited about for the upcoming seasons,” he added.
Aside from Padrigao, Nic Cabañero has likewise bid farewell to the España-based squad, which still boasts a strong core led by Collins Akowe, Amiel Acido, Mark Llemit, Kyle Paranada, and Koji Buenaflor.
As for what comes next, the pride of Zamboanga City aims to refine his game further as he sets his sights on turning professional next year.
