Drug sting in Tacloban City nets P11.6-M shabu

TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 seized P11.6-million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation Wednesday in Barangay 97, Cabalawan, this city.
Authorities apprehended the region’s top priority target in illegal drugs, “Roy,” 55, unemployed, and a resident of Barangay 109 here.
Seized from the suspect were 16 knot-tied and four self-sealing transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
The contraband weighed 1.7 kilos and has a Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P11.5 million.
Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 director, commended operating units for arresting Roy.
“Their relentless efforts reflect our strong commitment to safeguarding our communities and achieving a drug-free Eastern Visayas,” he said.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared against the suspect.
