CEBU CITY – Classes were suspended in several areas in Cebu province while sea trips were cancelled due to threats brought by tropical depression ‘’Wilma.’’
Classes were suspended starting Thursday, Dec. 4, until Friday, Dec. 5, in several areas in Cebu as Wilma moved closer to the Visayas with a threat of heavy rains.
Municipalities that suspended in-person classes were Moalboal, Dalaguete, Compostela, Cordova, and Santa Fe on Bantayan Island.
The town of Minglanilla and the cities of Naga, Talisay, and Carcar shifted to modular or online classes.
Lapu-Lapu City suspended face-to-face classes until Saturday, Dec. 6.
Classes were cancelled after a low-pressure area intensified in the Philippine Area of Responsibility into Wilma on Thursday morning, Dec. 4.
Wilma is affecting Cebu as most areas in the province are still recovering from last month’s devastation from typhoon ‘’Tino.’’
The weather disturbance also resulted in cancellation of sea trips starting at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Oceanjet and Supercat suspended its Cebu-Ormoc trips while Jomalia Shipping also cancelled its Danao-Consuelo trips.
