Governor Daniel R. Fernando disputed the report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bulacan which declared the towns of Meycauayan, Obando, and Plaridel as 100 percent drug-free.
The report of PDEA was announced during the 4th quarter joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), and Provincial Task Force To End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTPF-ELCAC) held at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in the City of Malolos, Bulacan on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
According to PDEA, the basis for their report is the drug test conducted on all employees which yielded negative results.
But Fernando questioned why the mayors, vice mayors, and councilors were not included in the PDEA's drug testing.
The PDEA did not respond to this, prompting the governor to reject the report.
The governor once again reiterated that everyone, including each agency in every town, should be included in the drug tests to ensure that the reports are accurate and comprehensive.
Fernando said the report must be clear, and the drug test to be conducted in every town and city should include all police officers, mayors, vice mayors, and members of the municipal council.
"Kapag negative lahat ang resulta ng drug test, kasama tayong lahat na nandirito, diyan pa lamang siguro ako maniniwala ng drug free na nga ang isang lugar," (When all the drug test results are negative, including all of us here, only then will I probably believe that a place is indeed drug-free)," the Bulacan governor said.
