Six individuals were arrested in an operation conducted by the Manila Police District–Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) led by Maj. Edward Samonte, after they were caught in the act of gambling in San Andres Bukid, Manila.
Confiscated in the operation were three videoke game machines and one fruit game machine, all considered harmful and illegal gambling devices that often attract young people.
According to Maj. Samonte, former Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, strictly prohibited the use and operation of these gambling machines in the city.
He emphasized that illegal gambling sites are often linked to drug activity, serving as a “hub” for drug users and pushers, with some operating almost 24/7.
Samonte added that under the directive of the mayor and the Manila Police District, operations will continue to dismantle illegal gambling spots and machines that pose risks to the community.
