A Bishop who officiated a thanksgiving mass inside the House of Representatives on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3 went off the cuff in his holimy and asked "congressmen and leaders" to stop their corrupt ways.
Bishop Emeritus Antonio Tobias D.D., of the Diocese of Novaliches did so in front of several House members, including Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III. The Office of the Speaker sponsored the mass.
"Let me say the involvement of our congressmen and leaders of the country in the recent massive corruption extending to several years of the Duterte administration is a great disgrace to your office and a betrayal of public trust entrusted to you," Tobias said.
"When this becomes pervasive, in all branches of goverment, the situation may lead the country to total disarray," he warned.
"Kaya pwede ba tumigil na kayo? Tumigil na kayo (So can you please stop? Please stop). Have pity on your people—on our people," Tobias added.
Dead silence met the remarks of the Bishop, who went on to finish his homily in front of the solons, staff, and members of the media.
