By MB Technews
TikTok Shop released its latest Global Safety Report, reinforcing its commitment to providing a secure and trustworthy environment for shoppers, sellers, and creators worldwide. The report highlights TikTok Shop’s proactive measures to protect its community while supporting local sellers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines.
“Ensuring a safe and reliable shopping experience is at the heart of everything we do,” said Yves Gonzalez, Head of Public Policy for the Philippines at TikTok Shop. “Our Safety Report demonstrates our continued investment in tools, technologies, and policies that protect our community, and reflects our dedication to building a platform where Filipino sellers and buyers can confidently thrive.”
Global Safety Measures and Enforcement
Globally, between January and June 2025, TikTok Shop rejected more than 70 million product listings globally before they went live, safeguarding shoppers from non-compliant items. In addition, the platform removed over 200,000 restricted or prohibited products after listing and deactivated the accounts of more than 700,000 sellers who violated its policies. E-commerce features were also removed from over 2 million creators who did not adhere to TikTok Shop’s standards.
These actions are supported by the platform’s combination of human oversight, advanced technology, and adherence to its policies and Community Guidelines, ensuring a safe and secure experience for all users. TikTok Shop applies rigorous policies for buyers, sellers, and creators, including seller verification, age confirmation, and product compliance checks, to ensure that only safe and authentic products are available on the platform.
Localized Safety Efforts in the Philippines
In the Philippines, TikTok Shop takes a proactive and localized approach to safety and education. The #TikTokShopSmart campaign empowers users to make informed decisions by teaching them how to identify trusted sellers, evaluate product descriptions and reviews, and avoid scams.
TikTok Shop also collaborates with key government stakeholders, such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), equipping businesses to sell safely online. Regular updates through the TikTok Shop Academy and @sellwithtiktokshop_ph account further guide sellers in staying compliant and informed.
“By enforcing rigorous safety and compliance standards, TikTok Shop builds consumer confidence and empowers sellers, especially MSMEs, to achieve sustainable growth in the Philippines’ dynamic digital commerce landscape,” Gonzalez added.
Building Trust Across the Shopping Journey
In addition, TikTok Shop strengthens trust through preventive measures and through post-purchase support. The platform manages product recalls in coordination with governments and public institutions, ensuring that unsafe products are promptly removed and buyers are notified. Shoppers can also enjoy free returns on millions of items, a 90-day money-back guarantee for defective products, and advanced refunds to minimize friction. To further enhance customer confidence, TikTok Shop provides 24/7 support, including live agents and automated assistance outside business hours.
Through these global and localized initiatives, TikTok Shop continues to prioritize transparency, trust, education, and safety. These efforts ensure that Filipino MSMEs can grow their businesses with confidence while providing shoppers with a reliable, secure, and enjoyable online shopping experience.
