Quezon City named among 2025 Galing Pook Awardees for earthquake readiness program
Barangay Blue Ridge B has been hailed as one of the Ten Outstanding Barangay Initiatives in the 2025 Galing Pook Awards on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The barangay received national recognition for its “Clustered Street Camp Evacuation Approach,” a localized disaster-response model designed to ensure that residents know exactly what to do in the immediate aftermath of a major earthquake, particularly “The Big One”.
Under the program, Blue Ridge B is divided into organized clusters, each equipped with designated evacuation points, trained volunteer leaders, communication protocols, and resource-sharing plans.
The system allows the community to mobilize quickly and independently while waiting for formal rescue and relief operations.
The award was presented by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Local officials said the initiative was developed to address the barangay’s exposure to earthquake hazards and the need for immediate, coordinated action during a disaster.
Barangay Blue Ridge B joins nine other barangays nationwide honored for their innovative governance programs that focus on community empowerment, environmental protection, social welfare, and disaster resilience.
The Galing Pook Awards is an annual search recognizing outstanding local governance initiatives across the country.
