CEBU CITY – Close to P1 billion shabu was seized in Central Visayas in the first 11 months of the year.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that from January to Nov. 27, 124.2 kilos of shabu amounting to P849,204,889.60 were seized from 7,963 police operations conducted in various areas in the region.
Also seized were 2,612 grams of dried marijuana, 14,421 marijuana plants, 250 grams of cocaine, and 60 Ecstasy tablets.
Thousands were also arrested in the unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs, said Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of PRO-7.
Arrested were 309 high-value targets, 2,983 street-level individuals, and 5,975 newly identified drug personalities.
Maranan also reported that Central Visayas posted a high conviction rate in drug cases filed.
Maranan said that 141 cases were filed from January to November and 137 led to convictions.
“Each conviction strengthens public confidence and proves that our operations are credible, disciplined, and justice-driven,” said Maranan.
Maranan reiterated that the successful campaign against illegal drugs was due to public cooperation.
He assured that the campaign against illegal drugs will remain relentless to ensure a peaceful Central Visayas.
