Authorities arrested a departing passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 2 after a concealed firearm component was detected during routine baggage screening.
Airport authorities noticed the gun component on X-ray at the Baggage Makeup Area, Station 1 inside a box belonging to a passenger bound for Butuan.
The passenger admitted ownership and claimed the item was intended for licensing processes in Mindanao, yet failed to present any permit or legal document upon request.
The passenger was placed under arrest facing a case for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act."
