Delivery rider dies after collision with another motorcycle in QC
A 34 year old delivery rider died after colliding with another motorcycle in Quezon City on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage showed the delivery rider turning left onto Anonas Street when another motorcycle, traveling along Aurora Boulevard, sped into the intersection and crashed into him.
The accident occurred past 1:30 a.m.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Sector 3, the motorcycle rider was coming from Marikina and ran the red light at the intersection.
“Base po sa investigation namin, yung motorcycle rider na galing Marikina ang bumangga sa motorcycle na kakaliwa papuntang Anonas. Nag–beating the red light po siya kaya nagbanggaan sila sa intersection (Based on our investigation, the motorcycle rider from Marikina collided with the motorcycle that was turning left towards Anonas. He was beating the red light, which is why they collided at the intersection),” QCPD Traffic Sector 3 chief Capt. Jennifer Agustin said.
Both riders were rushed to the hospital, but the delivery rider later died.
The other rider is currently confined and recovering.
The suspect will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
Agustin reminded the public to strictly follow traffic rules to prevent similar accidents.
