Zamboanga City kicks off Christmas festival

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government launched its traditional Christmas festival on Monday, Dec. 1, with the theme “Christmas on the Move: Land, Air, and Sea of Joy.”

The historic Zamboanga City Hall has a Christmas display with thousands of sparkling lights.

Parks surrounding the seat of local government, major thoroughfares, and city streets were bedecked with lights and decorations in line with the theme.

City government employees wearing sea-inspired costumes participated in a Christmas parade. The theme highlighted the former vocation of Mayor Khymer Olaso as a boat captain prior to being elected in 2025 as local chief executive.

Olaso highlighted the need for unity and the spirit of ‘’bayanihan’’ (cooperation) to achieve the city’s goals for the coming year.

A program was held and capped by a fireworks display.
