CAVITE – The local government unit (LGU) of Rosario will be recognizing two municipal employees who returned a lost wallet containing P50,000 to a fruit vendor who had long saved the money for her daily livelihood.
The employees, identified as Armando L. De Guia Jr. and Ma. Teresa P. Arbonida, both assigned to the Municipal Local Civil Registrar Office, found the wallet on Monday, Dec. 1.
Rosario Public Information Officer Sid Samaniego told the Manila Bulletin that the two employees noticed a wallet left unattended on a chair and immediately checked it for any identification.

They promptly coordinated efforts to locate the wallet's owner, identified as Quenie May Ferrer.
Ferrer broke into tears when she received the wallet containing the hard-earned money intended to buy the fruits she planned to sell this December.
Samaniego said the fruit vendor attempted to give the honest employees a reward, but the two refused and told her to put it to her business instead.
The municipal government is set to award De Guia and Arbonida certificates of honesty in the next weekly assembly.
